I'm Connor Graham, you may remember me from such trading names as Eager Amoeba or that boy who develops the software, websites, and games.
For those not in the know, I'm freelancing full-time (again) after a year and a half hiatus under part-time and full-time employment.
Having a full-time job was interesting and I don't regret it one bit, the people at Rare and Link-2 were absolutely lovely and if I wanted a job I could quite easily have stayed at either one. Unfortunately, I've been freelancing for too long and I'm too young to be settled in either place right now. Maybe if I'm 30 and this doesn't work out, we'll see.
For this sprint, I've decided to move my freelance work away from Eager Amoeba and trade under my real name. Eager Amoeba will still be alive, I'm using the name to sell my games and game development assets as the name has an established reputation in that space.
Trading under a brand name has its advantages and disadvantages. There is some separation between your real name and the brand, your accomplishments and your mistakes are easier to move on from if you can abandon the brand. Not having this option makes me both excited and nervous.
Anywho, one of the mistakes I think I made with Eager Amoeba was a lack of specialization as that entity was a jack of all trades. This time I'm focussing on two areas - Software/Web Development & CAD. My best work and passion has always been in developing software and programming so it's great to be able to focus on this.
Lastly, I also offer a finders fee now. More on that in another post though.
Thanks for reading, hope this update has kept you on the edge of your seat!
I've got some time free in the coming weeks, if any of you need anything doing please get in touch.
